EN IVAN II
2019

Materials used: Marble and tempered glass.
Images taken during the exhibition “S’inscrire à Temps” at the Musée du Louvre.
IVAN II is the final part of a photographic project that began in 2016, evoking the search for the land of my childhood and the nostalgia for a country that has since disappeared.
Standing – a gravestone highlighted by a base.
In front – a protective glass, scratched, damaged, scuffed, filled with inscriptions.
Just as memory, polluted by recollection, vandalizes the past, the glass serves here as a screen, obscuring the name engraved on the stone: IVAN.
“Terrible” is Man’s dilemma of having all paths available, yet being unable to find a destination*.
IVAN II is a gravestone for this Man.

IVAN II, est le dernier volet d’un projet photographique commencé en 2016, évoquant la recherche de la terre de mon enfance et la nostalgie d’un pays aujourd’hui disparu.
Debout – une plaque funéraire rehaussée par un socle.
Devant – un verre de protection, rayé, abimé, gratté, rempli d'inscriptions.
De la même manière que la memoire, polluée par le souvenir, vandalise le passé, le verre sert ici d'écran, occultant le nom gravé sur la pierre: IVAN.
« Terrible » est l’Homme de disposer de tous les chemins, dans l'impossibilité alors de trouver destination*.
IVAN II est une pierre tombale pour cet Homme.
